Background

Galbraiths was established by David Galbraith in 1982. David had been a partner in a large law firm in Whangarei, before running a successful general practice in the Hawkes Bay. He relocated to Auckland in 1978 and after moving to Howick established Galbraiths in 1982.

The firm originally shared its office with the management of The Howick and Pakuranga Times in Rices Mall before David purchased a unit in Fencible Chambers at the corner of Fencible Drive and Moore Street. The success of Galbraiths necessitated David leasing additional space in the unit next door.

David's son Richard Galbraith joined David in practice in 1994. The firm continued to grow, establishing an excellent reputation as the leading law firm in the Howick area. In March 2006 the practice was acquired by then employees Michael Taylor and Stephen Munro.

Galbraiths continued to grow and purchased the local law firm of Eastland Legal in June 2010. This involved taking on an additional 10 staff. The acquisition of Eastland Legal cements Galbraiths as the leading law firm in the Howick area and one of the largest in Eastern Auckland.

Galbraiths developed primarily in the property area, however with its growth the firm now provides a full range of legal services to clients, including commercial and civil litigation, court work, sale and purchase of businesses, franchising, family and employment law, criminal, wills and estate planning and advice regarding setting up and administering of family trusts. The Galbraiths team now comprises of three lawyers, and three registered legal executives, who are assisted by the firms accountant and three support staff, all of whom utilize the most up to date technology, to provide the best legal solutions for our clients. We enjoy modern offices with ample free client parking right outside the door.
